1 month anniversary

it has been one month now.

for one month, lebanon has had bombs drop on her.

in one month, i have aged 50 years.

for one month, i have cried everyday.

as the days unfold, the news is only getting worse. i find myself sinking... it has become so hard to write.

how many times can i keep repeating..."help, israel is targeting civilians... israel is blowing up the whole country... infrastructure has been hit...all the highways have been hit... roads and bridges, hit... food and wheat storages, gas and fuel supplies, communication towers, ports...all hit...hospitals shutting down because they have run out of fuel... the whole country is slowly being choked to death.

how many times can i keep repeating that the israeli army is hitting trucks carrying food and aid... they are hitting the red cross... the un...

how many times can i write that war crimes are being committed. that phosphorous bombs are being dropped on children...

how many times can i say that the oil spill has wrecked our coast and marine life... it has now spread to syria, by the way... even after the clean up, it will be 6 years before the environment can stabilize again.

how many times can i keep saying that the planes are getting louder.. the bombs are getting louder!

over 1 million displaced civilians now.
over 1,000 civilians killed.

how many times do i have to say that my country is being destroyed piece by piece. entire neighborhoods in my city no longer exist. entire families have disappeared. the south of lebanon is one fire.

for one month, i have seen lebanon brutalized. her citizens crushed under the rubble of their own homes.

you can not make peace through bombs.

in a week, if we do not get fuel into the country, the hospital that maya goes to will be shut down. she will not be able to get her chemotherapy. that is a few days from now.

a great friend sent me a song. it has become my mantra. every time i think i'm going to break down, panic, etc.. i put this song on full blast... and it somehow gets me to smile :) if there is no electricity, then i sing it out loud to myself.. and to my sister.. and brother.. and dogs.. and neighbors... hahaha...never thought i'd say this, but, long live happy music!!

here are some of the lyrics:

why must our children play in the streets,
broken hearts and faded dreams,
peace and love to everyone that you meet,
don't you worry, it could be so sweet,
just look to the rainbow, you will see
sun will shine till eternity,
i've got so much love in my heart,
no-one can tear it apart,
yeah,

feel the love generation,
yeah, yeah, yeah,
feel the love generation,
c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon yeah,

(whistling.....)

apparently ya rasha, you enjoy to "tinfilji" since you keep reading this blog... I don’t understand how people like you have the time and patience to even bother writing meaningless comments like this one in times like these. so why don't you spare yourself the trouble, and spare us your worthless, empty words.

Please keep posting, I come everyday, worried if you don't post; so sad reading your news yet so relieved when you do post ... I think so many of us would suffer if you fell silent now.

You give us a way of saying 'Look, this is who is being bombed', you give us a way to fight for you.

Rasha, whoever you are, Zena is a million miles from self-centred. She is inspiring huge numbers of people with her passionate, loving and heartfelt writing, and she writes mostly of the devastation this war has brought to others, not herself. Please stop for a moment and put yourself in her place; she is living in the middle of one of the most stricken places in the world right now; her friend is ill with cancer and may lose access to her medication soon. Nobody in Lebanon knows right now whehter they'll live to see next week. It is very, very unkind to speak harshly to her so please think very hard before you post these kind of words to her again.

Like other posts from the UK I am ashamed at our politicians attitude to this, especially Tony Blair. But there are a lot of like minded people in all countries that are totally against this criminal activity. Your post was one of several published in the UK newspaper called The Independent today. Please keep posting and I wish you all the best.

Zena, I read every day and share your tears. I heard Wael on BBC The World! I felt he was someone I knew. Some day the People will stop them. Some day the People will say the Commons belong to us. The People will say, we won't serve as soldiers any more. We won't fund another bomb. This will be a worldwide movement. I know this doesn't help you much today. I pray you can stay safe.

i want to express my solidarity with you! i write from nyc, not understanding anything anymore. this american backed bloodbath is beyond the beyond, and i cannot walk the streets of nyc, without feeling shame, disgust and total despair at what horror this country has wrought on you, on your people, on the innocent, on humans!! we are all human and we are all connected. i print photos from websites of broken babies, suffering elders, people, all MY mother, all my children.. OUR BROTHERS, our sisters... we are all connected my god!! and i print these images, because THEY ARE NO WHERE TO BE FOUND on american tv, in newspapers... (to protect fragile americans?) it is like a fantasy world here!! i don't think people even know what is going on!! it is as if we are in a time capsule here!! even though there are protests and i go and i yell yet,
it is not the majority, like london, like paris, like berlin. it is as if a hologram. i ask people all the time "are you not outraged" "are you not sickened, insulted by this government, that YOU PAY YOUR TAXES TO?" America is destroying another country!! endpoint. i think people are sleepwalking here, donwtrodden working people i believe ARE full of guilt, repress it, make believe, everything is "fine, just fine".. denial. and of course brainwashing. (note 9/11 film coming out right now.. this helps keep americans licking their own wounds... yet right now.. NOW, there is cold blooded SLAUGHTER going on in lebanona... you know this!! i think americans are in total denial and this unbelievable GENOCIDE they are funding, aiding and allowing and i want to say to you as someone who is born in this insane asylum here in america, that i listened to Nasrallah's speech last week, and felt it was a brilliant, human, revolutionary speech i have heard in ten years!! and bush and co. they represent the total
embodiment of horror, terror and pure evil and or course ignorance and stupidity.

I cry daily. I cry because i believe all peoples of the world should be crying with your people. i believe there was a time in this universe where we had the capacity to care/aide/help/ when something happened to our fellow human being...especially an injustice i believe we still have this place... but most people in america have this place stopped up with money, consumerism, the need to acquire more and more and more, to fill this "hole" ... when in actuality this "space" is meant to be for caring /compassion for our fellow human beings... to feel THERE PAIN, as it is OUR PAIN, i repeat WE ARE ALL CONNECTED..

i send you incredible beams of light, fierce and gentle, to you and all your people... may that light be a force field to protect you from the fires, and from the fury of this insanity.. may the light guard you and all near you...

i believe in the cause and effect/the coming around again. america is cursed now, BLACKENED with a huge CURSE, and the accountability will be on the souls of all americans. each of us here will suffer because of what america has inflicted on you and the total middle east...(this did NOT begin with 9/1 as most idiots americans think.. rather americas complicity with isreal and slaughter of palestinians..) there is justice.. but this justice is deeper, more inner.. more soul based. there will be a justice. but that doesn't help you now. i know. and i am sorry. sorry beyond all words. sorry that i cannot stop this insanity. i am sorry and i stand with you and send energy of light and
hope for this insanity to end. a comrade in nyc.

I live in America, and have many neighbors who support what is happening. It's pure ignorance.
I only hope that the arab world will come together, an our governments will become more organized. That is our only hope, or else this will go on for ever, and more inocent people like you will live to see such horror.

To the dear American from NY

Look at this link and See Donald Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam who killed 500000 Iranians and wounded another half a million in an 8 year long war (funded by Kuwait and American weapons) and yes Saddam used poison gas and chemical weapons against Iranians and US remained silent.

Or just google search “Saddam Rumsfeld” and click images.

Zena, asalam Alaikum, from one artist to another, I know how it feels, I'm the age as you, and I've been where you've been, only 18 yrs ago.
Use your god given talent as an artist, to push for change once all this is over, to raise awarness. I know this will stay with you until the end, it's only much later, when all the bloodshed, fear, and misery ends, that the road to recovery gets harder.
It will get harder to cope as time goes by, but you will get stronger, and realize one day that you were allowed to witness this event for a reason. embrace it, and keep telling the world,

your voice is louder than you think,
love to you and your family, the dogs, and your friend.

It is a terrible nightmare that Beirut has been undergoing.I don't wish such a plight even to my worst enemy. I wonder what kind of people are in the government of Israel. Are they humanbeings or animals? Animals don't have conscience. Individuals like me can only express our outrage in 'letters to the editor' column of newspapers. Only the governments can act, they must act but that are not acting. Why can't all the Arab countries together declare war on Israel? There may be mighty US behind Israel but still US can't afford to incur the wrath of so many countries. If US really tries to come to the aid of Israel my best guess is some European countries might throw their weight behind Lebanon. It is surprising to see that the world is utterly devoid of good people or good governments that have the courage to come to the aid of Lebanon. I feel terribly sorry for you all. I am not able find words to say anything else.

To my American fellows:
Israel is NO friend of USA, they just use us and our resources for their evil cause:

“...The ruling by U.S. District clears the way for the trial of two former officials of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a pro-Israel lobbying organization.
The defendants, Steven J. Rosen and Keith Weissman, were indicted last year by a federal grand jury on charges of conspiring to obtain information about Iran and other Middle East nations from Lawrence A. Franklin, then a Pentagon analyst. Franklin pleaded guilty to passing government secrets and in January was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison.”

Krig og diplomati

Love from Poland

Aleksandra

Here is a poem by Basima Farhat that I wanted to share with you all:

To all things not Love
I send Love
to all things Love
I send Love
to all things not of the light
I send Love
to all things light
I send Love
to all things that live in darkness
I send Love
to all things alive only to the dark
I send Love
to all things of hate
I send Love
God is Love
Hate is no more
than a lack of light
Therefore I send to hate,
Love,
that is the only way to peace
